Checklist to Know if You're Ready for PR

Many companies ask us how to know if they are ready for a PR campaign, or if Ubiquity is the right agency for them. Here's a list of considerations that help us determine if we can knock it out of the park for you. If you fall outside of this list, not to worry. We'd still love to meet you, and might be able to offer resources to get your company to the stage where PR does make sense. And if we're not a great fit, we'll happily connect you with other agencies that we know and trust.

  • Your company and product have a name, a brand identity, and a clear target market. If you need help with this, we have some fantastic partners to refer to you. So please ask us if you need help with branding, marketing strategy, and/or web development.
  • You have a viable product and are at least in beta. If you have to ask what "beta" means we're probably already ill-matched.
  • You have some customers, or at least some beta users, who are happy with the product/service and willing to talk to press about it. This is a largely overlooked componant to a sucessful PR campaign and one that is crucial for startups.
  • You have more than just you. PR is going to put some additional time demands on your plate. If you're already wearing the hats of developer, CEO, CFO, sales VP and coffee maker, you're not going to have the time to make the PR campaign worthwhile.
  • You don't expect to be on the cover of Fast Company within the first year of your launch. Or maybe ever. There, I said it. You're not going to be on the cover of Fast Company. Still want to engage PR? Good, we want to talk to you. (Note: We've had several clients in Fast Company.)
  • You are engaging other marketing strategies such as SEO, SEM, and/or advertising. You don't have to do all of these, but do have to round out your PR with other marketing to make the needle really move.
  • You're not afraid to get a little freaky. We like to take risks if you'll let us. Some of the best campaigns stem from crazy brainstorms and the willingness to say "yes." We'll always be sensisitve to budget and any other limitations.

Request a Proposal

You may find that our proposal process is a little more involved than what you have experienced before. We are eager to meet with you and have a meaningful discussion about your goals and what you expect from a public relations campaign. We will continue to build your proposal from there.

We do accept RFPs and will respond to all inquiries within two days in most situations.
